Nathan was born on December 17, 1999, the most wonderful day of my life. Fairly traumatic birth, his welcome to the world was someone sticking a tube down his throat as his lungs had to be suctioned because of a poo during delivery. He was very upset and indignant at this and as his mother was being stitched up the midwife gave him to me to hold once his lungs were clear. The stories through the belly button must have worked because as soon as I started talking to him he settled down, snuggled into my arms and drifted off to sleep. I knew from that moment we were going to have a wonderful relationship and it turned out to be even better than I imagined.
